In partnership with the City of Long Beach Office of Sustainability, The Growing Experience converts green waste collected from Long Beach local eateries and restaurants into compost. Every week, new piles of compost are made. It takes approximately six weeks for a compost pile to fully decompose and be ready for use on our crops.
Independently, community members and other businesses such as Fine Feathers Kombucha, bring their compost onsite to be responsibly disposed of.
Home Kitchen Scraps:
We recommend recommend collecting your scraps in a 5-gallon bucket and dropping them off on a weekly or bi-weekly basis depending on how much you generate.
Compost can be dropped off Monday - Friday 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
(Please note, we are closed on Federal and Los Angeles County Holidays)
We can accept most kitchen scraps including: citrus, coffee grounds, cardboard with-out glossy print, and bamboo/\wooden cutlery.
We cannot accept animal products/waste (egg shells exempt), processed food items or "compostable plastic".
